Swimming lessons

During Daniel's swimming lesson around 3 weeks I had mentioned to Robina whether she thought Daniel would be able to do the next level up, and if so, when was she teaching that class. Both Mum and Dad are overseas (Mum left today) and so I wouldn't be able to take Daniel to the Baby Bliss class as I needed to go in the water, but I needed someone to sit with Eliza. She felt that he would possibly be ok because he was comfortable with her and that it would be a lot easier for me, however, she didn't think there were any spaces with her class - she only does one on Fridays. She told me to chat with the receptionist to see whether there were any available spaces, but with time restraints I hadn't gotten around to it. On the Friday I received a phone call to ask if I would like him to move into the Beginners class with Robina. This was perfect but also meant that Robina must have mentioned it as I hadn't gotten around to it. It is very lovely that she must genuinely love teaching Daniel to have mentioned it as it wouldn't effect her in any way.

The following week I took Daniel to his lesson and unfortunately Robina was away. Daniel was very hesitant to go in the water with a different teacher, however, once in he was happy. He didn't really do his normal level of skills though - hardly kicked, didn't put his head under the water, etc. I was a bit disappointed if this is how the next level up was, but figured it was mainly because of having a different teacher and he didn't know what Daniel was capable of.

We missed last weeks lesson with Robina because of Daniel coming down with conjunctivitis (which seems to have gone now) so today was his first lesson with Robina. He was again hesitant to go into the water without me, but once in was his normal self. He did swimming with the noodle and even did some without any assistance - swimming to Robina and back to the wall. I was very proud of him. He followed her instructions and was happy to stay at the wall playing with the watering can while she worked with Toby, his swimming buddy. Robina did push him more this week which I was happy with and he really responded to it. Go Daniel! I can't wait to see how he develops at this next level.

At the end of the lesson Robina said 'I just love working with him'. I do enjoy seeing him respond so well to her and how she encourages him.
