Catch up

I am a bit annoyed at myself for falling behind on blogging again. So much has happened and I am just not able to keep up. By the nighttime I am tired and drained and just can't seem to be focussed enough to write a post. Especially with Daniel and his big boy bed. It is really taking it out of me. He is very hit and miss with how he will go. After a few days of only getting out once or twice, the last 2 days he has decided to miss his nap (and I have given up after putting him back in bed after an hour) and then taken up to 20 times being put back in bed at night. It's pretty intense and draining. But then today he only got up 3 times for his nap and one time tonight. I just can't work out what he will do.

Anyway, tomorrow we plan to take out the cot from his room and if he gets out of bed 5 times, he will then spend the night in the port-a-cot. If he does that for the week, then we will need to start thinking seriously about getting a new cot because it's just too draining. I feel it's unfair for Eliza to have to sit in the bouncer or be on the floor for the hour that I need to stand at the door.

I have started to take Daniel to the library for the story time on Wednesdays after swimming. He seems to enjoy listening to the stories, but will tend to just watch during the songs. I'm sure as we continue to go, he will become more comfortable and get involved.

Getting into the action of 'Too Many Elephants'

About a month ago, Eliza started to be a bit more chatty - making 'ooohhh', 'ahhh' and blowing raspberries. It's pretty cute to watch. Daniel enjoyed listening and telling me 'La said ooohhhh'.

At Mothers' Group it has been really nice to see the kids starting to interact with each other and play with each other. Daniel and Lachie are seeming to become good buddies. I can see that these 2 little boys are going to get into a lot of mischief as they grow up. Hopefully our girls will be the same. At the park it was so sweet - Lachie took Daniel's hand and they started to go for a little walk. It melted my heart.

It is pretty tricky having 2 kids and being able to manage my time with them. When I was changing Daniel's nappy and getting him organised Eliza was playing under her mobile. She then started to cry but I wasn't able to go to her. After a couple of minutes she had clearly tired herself out and fell asleep under the mobile. Haven't seen that happen before. Precious little girl.
We went and had a lovely morning tea with Aunty Shirley and Aunty Megan. Daniel did well with eating and sitting in the high chair with his cars, books and trains. It was lovely for Eliza to have cuddles with them both.

I have also started to have Daniel help me do some cooking. We have started to make our own Hummus and he really enjoys using the food processor and helping squeeze the lemons (plus he enjoyed having a little drink of the juice.

Eliza is getting very good at holding her head up while having tummy time. I'm even starting to get some little smiles from her while doing it.

And she has started to find her hands. She looks very sweet when she is holding them infront of her.
Daniel still totally adores Eliza. Most mornings he wants to give her hugs and kisses.
Look Mummy, cuddles with no hands
He also decides to read to her some days which is very cute to watch. I love listening to his version of books, particualrly ones which involve counting. 'One, two, dah, dah, dah, five, hooray! It makes me wonder what he hears when I'm counting and reading books with him :-)
Whose Spots?
Eliza is starting to rub her eyes when she is getting tired. It is very cute to see.
Happy girl
Getting tired
I just love watching my family hang out with Daniel and Eliza. They are so lucky to have family who enjoy playing and being with them. I definitely love the extra hands too.

Another morning, another cuddle :-)
We are enjoying being at Mothers' Group too. Eliza and I have been going to a group for her on Tuesdays, which I hope to keep in touch with those mums and bubs, and then we've still been going to Thursday Mothers' Group with Daniel's buddies. It really is nice seeing them play together.
Dan, Daniel and Lachie riding the bike
Daniel absolutely adores Lachie's little sister, Emily. He really enjoys seeing her, going for walks with her and playing with her. When I tell Daniel we're going for a walk he asks me if Emily will be there. Eventually I get him to ask if Anne and Lachie will be there too but Emily is always the first. Like with Eliza he enjoys giving Emily hugs and kisses. Fortunately her mummy, Anne, thinks it is very cute. I wonder if they will go out when they are older... that would be pretty cute.

I do have some videos to post too but Blogger just doesn't seem to let me put them up at the moment. I will keep trying and hopefully it will come together soon. I will let you know when videos are up too.
